The Kaal Bhairav Deeksha is simply received to get the blessings of Kala Bhairav. Deeksha is the foundation of every kind of worship and penance, therefore a Sadhak must always avoid long methods and adopt the easy way. Receiving Deeksha is such a process.
According to Hindu legends, Bhairava emerged from a conversation between Brahma and Vishnu. Shiva created Bhairava to punish Brahma for his dishonesty and arrogance. Bhairava decapitated Brahma’s fifth head, and later, Vishnu interceded on Brahma’s behalf, leading to their worship of Shiva.
Bhairava is associated with annihilation and destruction. He wields weapons like the Trishul, sword, and Kapala, and his vehicle is a dog.
His devotees seek protection from enemies, greed, lust, and anger. He is also considered the creator, sustainer, and destroyer of life’s three stages.
Bhairav or Kaal Bhairav is a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva. Shiva allocated the job of guarding each of the 52 Shakti Peethas to one Bhairava. As such, there are 52 forms of Bhairava, which are manifestations of Shiva himself. The Bhairav Deeksha is received for protection from evil and enemies.
